Tuesday 30 th September

Visit heritage village of Luss on Loch Lomond and also take a cruise on the loch.

This unique and relaxing tour is about exploring the 'REAL HIGHLANDS OF SCOTLAND'. We guarantee this tour will leave an impression on you that will last forever. Leaving the city behind, our first stop is at LOCH LOMOND. Beautiful views of Ben Lomond and the loch can be savoured and photographed within an hour of leaving Glasgow. There is also an option for a cruise on the loch.   £8*

Luss is a designated Conservation Village at the eastern end of Glen Luss on the western shores of Loch Lomond, Britain’s largest inland waterway. This setting is famed for its natural beauty and as a haven for wildlife. The history of the area stretches back millennia evidenced by the remains of hilltop forts, Neolithic burial chambers and crannogs (artificial islands created as loch dwellings from around 5000 BC) that dot the landscape. Luss itself is a village of ancient origins with a history full of character. 

 

Tuesday 30 th September
Kirkintilloch Golf Club     £60
9.15am – 2pm

An 18-hole (5,860 yds) par 70 heath and parkland layout. The club was established in 1895, with the course being extended to 18 holes in 1924 under the direction of James Braid. In 2000 6 new holes were opened for play, extending the course to its current length, and providing a fair challenge for golfers of all standards.
The combination of tree lined fairways, rolling terrain, and well placed bunkers reward accurate play, with the greens amongst the best in the district. The course is enjoyable to walk, with no major climbs, and good course layout has minimised distances between holes.
The course is in a rural setting, with superb views of the Campsie hills from most holes.
Cost includes Transport, Round of golf, Lunch and hire of clubs.
Should this be oversubscribed a second day will be made available.

 


Wednesday 1 st October

Visit Stirling Castle    £25

 

A fantastic and enjoyable visit to Scotland's most important castle. Leaving  Glasgow we head towards STIRLING CASTLE which was home to Scottish Kings and Queens from the 12th century. Its long and varied history has seen sieges, battles and Royal Pageantry and ongoing archaeology has discovered many secrets of its regal past.

Entry into Stirling Castle approx      £8*

 

Thursday 2 nd October 
9am – 1pm Loch Katrine    £25

Journey through the stunning Trossachs to loch Katrine. Option of sailing on the old steam ship called Sir Walter Scott. Stop at Highland town of Aberfoyle.

Lunch is taken in the heart of the Trossachs at Loch Katrine. Taste fresh local produce and maybe walk it off with a stroll by the loch side or relax on the terrace sampling a local beer whilst taking in the stunning views of Loch Katrine and the Trossachs. Afterwards, relax as we drive over the old drover's road THE DUKE'S PASS enjoying some of the beautiful views the TROSSACHS has to offer.

Visit to Bannockburn and William Wallace monument

The battle of Bannockburn was undoubtedly of one of the most spectacular battles of the Scottish Wars of Independence. Although the struggle against the English was to continue for some 13 years more, the Scottish victory was of enormous importance as it secured the future of the throne for Robert Bruce , King of Scots.

When Scotland and England faced each other at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297, Scotland was led to victory by a figure destined to become a national hero - William Wallace. All the drama of his campaign for freedom is captured at The National Wallace Monument proudly standing on the Abbey Craig, overlooking the city of Stirling.

Friday 3 rd October 
9.30am – 2pm    £25
Ledard Farm

Visit an old Hilltop farm which dates back to the 1474. An enchanting lochside retreat, located in the heart of the Trossachs within Scotland’s first National Park. Spend time in a historic setting where Rob Roy and Sir Walter Scott stayed. From Weaponry to Highland dress displays, this will be a unique insight to an old working farm (plenty of sheep dogs!!)

  Entry is £10* to include coffee/tea, shortbread and a whisky

*It is up to the individual if they wish to enter the museums, monuments etc. The entry fees will be collected on the day by the tourist guide.
